07Oct Black Friday 2010
Black Friday Season is Just Around the Corner
Yes, you read that right, Black Friday Season. Over the past few years we’ve seen Black Friday transform from a one-day event, celebrated by savvy shoppers the Friday after Thanksgiving, to a huge event that starts up in late October and runs through early December celebrated by anyone with money to spend.
As far as how good the Black Friday deals are shaping up this year, they are looking to be similar to ‘09, but weaker than ‘08. Not to say that there won’t be some great deals to be had, but you won’t find the same deep discounts from ‘08 when retailers dropped prices big time because they were scared by the economy and wanted to draw in the crowds. Two of the hottest items on Black Friday consistently over the years are TV’s and Laptops.
HDTVs are always a popular product for sale on Black Friday. Stores like Sears, Walmart and Best Buy will heavily drop prices on LED, LCD and Plasma HDTVs. The televisions that go on sale typically fall into 32″ to 46″ category, but you should still see some reduced prices in the 50″ to 55″ inch range as well. Not sure if we’ll see much change in 3D HDTV pricing but you can bet the store that drops those prices will have an influx of foot traffic.
Laptops and computers are a must have item on Black Friday. This year look for the laptops to go on sale to have a 15.4″ display, 2-4GB of memory, 250GB-320GB hard drive, and feature the latest processors from AMD or Intel. These specs in various models are mass produced and primed for a big price drop. New to Black Friday 2010 is the Apple iPad – otherwise known as 2010’s Tickle Me Elmo, it will be the most desired item this year hands down. However we do not expect this product to go on sale…instead retailers will offer various bundles that combine an iPad with a gift card and free accessories.
Stay tuned for more updates on Black Friday 2010 – Get ready for another great day of huge savings.
